This piece of work shows Buddha in meditation as the goal of ‘Sadhana’ is to attain some level of spiritual realisation, which can be either enlightenment, pure love of god or liberation. The dark background reflects our unconscious mind as Buddha penetrates our own darkness through spiritual awakening.

This painting tells us to keep Buddha’s Truth in the centre of one’s learnings. When cultivating the inner faculties one should make it the core of studies. The monk with folded hands is filled with faith and hope to walk the path of enlightenment.

This piece of work shows Buddha holding a beautiful lotus in hand. It means one must bloom like a lotus from amidst the swampy mire. The tiny seed of lotus knew that in order to grow it needed to be dropped in dirt, covered in darkness, and struggle to reach the light. Lotus is symbolic of purity of the body, speech, and mind in Buddhism.

This painting shows a ray of light through a dense forest. In Buddhism light from darkness is the practical science of spiritual awakening. Darkness is unconsciousness, light is consciousness. We must allow light to penetrate our inner darkness as light has the power to defeat darkness.

This painting shows Buddha in the state of Nirvana which is the common term used to describe the ultimate goal of Buddhist path. It is inspired from the reclining buddha in Songkhla, Thailand. Reclining buddha represents the final passage into nirvana, which is the state of nothingness to which some sects of buddhists aspire.

This painting reinforces the importance of Buddhist scriptures called 'Sutras' in sanskrit. 

In Buddhism, a Sutra (Pali: Sutta) is a discourse or teaching attributed to the Buddha or one of his close disciples. These texts are the foundational scriptures of Buddhist traditions and contain guidance on meditation, ethics, wisdom, and the nature of existence. The term "Sutra" originally means "thread," signifying that these teachings are like threads that weave the fabric of understanding and spiritual practice.

Buddha is so much identified with meditation cause his posture is always in meditation. Dhyana is the hand gesture that promotes the energy of meditation, deep contemplation and unity with higher energy. The circling of energy created by the triangle (formed when the thumbs of the two hands touch) also promotes a cleansing of any impurities on an etheric level. This is a conceptual painting depicting Buddhist meditation in a cave like landscape.

This painting is a conceptual representation of a Buddhist in meditative posture seeing the reflection of Buddha of his own mind. When the virtues of the Buddha develops within, the lotus blossoms. Lotus in buddhism stands for purification. It grows in muddy water, and those working to rise above the murkiness needs to be faithful followers.

This painting inspired from Bodhi tree, tree of awakening under which Siddharta Gautama had attained enlightenment.

The Bodhi Tree holds immense significance in Buddhism as the tree under which Siddhartha Gautama, later known as the Buddha, attained enlightenment (Bodhi). It is considered a sacred symbol of wisdom, spiritual awakening, and the Buddha’s victory over ignorance and desire.

This piece of artwork depicts the journey of a soul from darkness to light. The Buddha’s last words were, “Be your own light.” All those who had followed his teachings understood that truth is the light. Seek the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Light from darkness is a practical science of spiritual awakening.

Prayer flags are inscribed with auspicious symbols, prayers and mantras. The buddhists plant the prayer flags outside their homes and places of spiritual practice for the wind to carry the vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity. 

Traditionally, prayer flags come in sets of five colours - blue, white, red, green and yellow. Each of these colours are associated with five different elements like yellow with earth, green with water, red with fire, white with air and blue with space. Balancing these elements externally brings harmony to the environment whereas it brings health to body and mind when balanced internally. This painting with the prayer flags moving in the wind generates a natural positive energy.

An Ascended Master refers to a highly enlightened being who has transcended the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (samsara) and achieved spiritual mastery. In certain spiritual and metaphysical traditions, Gautama Buddha is revered as an Ascended Master due to his enlightenment and his role as a teacher of wisdom, compassion, and liberation.

Prayer wheels are a powerful tool for integrating mantra practice into daily life and embodying the Buddhist values of compassion and interconnectedness.

The mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" is central to prayer wheels and encapsulates Buddhist teachings:

Om: The sacred syllable representing the body, speech, and mind of the Buddha.

Mani: Meaning "jewel," symbolizing altruistic intention and compassion.

Padme: Meaning "lotus," representing wisdom and purity.

Hum: Denotes the indivisible union of compassion and wisdom.

The "Right Path" in Buddhism refers to the Noble Eightfold Path, a central teaching of the Buddha that provides a practical guide to ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom. It is the fourth of the Four Noble Truths and serves as a way to end suffering (dukkha) and achieve enlightenment (nirvana). The path is often divided into three categories: wisdom (paññā), ethical conduct (sīla), and mental discipline (samādhi).

Here’s a breakdown of the Eightfold Path:

1. Right View (Sammā Diṭṭhi)

Understanding the nature of reality, including the Four Noble Truths. Recognizing that life involves suffering, its causes, its cessation, and the path leading to its cessation.

2. Right Intention (Sammā Saṅkappa)

Developing thoughts of renunciation, goodwill, and compassion. Letting go of desires and ill-will to cultivate selflessness and kindness.

3. Right Speech (Sammā Vācā)

Speaking truthfully and kindly, avoiding lies, gossip, slander, and harmful words. Using speech to promote harmony and understanding.

4. Right Action (Sammā Kammanta)

Acting in ways that do not harm others.

Following ethical guidelines, such as refraining from killing and stealing.

5. Right Livelihood (Sammā Ājīva)

Earning a living in ways that do not harm others or violate ethical principles.

6. Right Effort (Sammā Vāyāma)

Cultivating a positive mindset by encouraging wholesome qualities and abandoning unwholesome ones. Striving for self-improvement and preventing negative states of mind.

7. Right Mindfulness (Sammā Sati)

Developing awareness of the present moment, including thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Practicing mindfulness in daily life and meditation.

8. Right Concentration (Sammā Samādhi)

Focusing the mind through meditation to achieve deep states of calm and insight. Developing one-pointed concentration, leading to profound clarity and understanding.

This path is not a linear process but an interconnected practice that supports spiritual growth.

The “Buddha” embodies enlightenment and the realization of the Middle Way—a balanced approach between indulgence and asceticism. Buddha is believed to work from higher spiritual planes to guide individuals and the planet toward greater peace, harmony, and spiritual growth.

This painting is a reflection of my inner self. On the way to finding the real self, one must not hold on to what you always had been now when you have transformed into a butterfly. Hundreds of golden butterflies gushing out from her bosom is a visual significance that reminds us of the secret of change, that is to focus all our energy not fighting the old, but on building the new!

Among other hindu gods lord Ganesha has always been my most favourite and hence I created this painting as a tribute to my new journey as an artist since lord Ganesha is known as the god of new beginnings. I wish to create a whole new series in near future. 

This painting is my tribute to Ganesh Chaturthi celebration 2023. Its inspired from an old stone idol which I worship at my personal space. I invoke lord Ganesha as my favorite deity, a gateway to living my highest expression of who I truly am!

This painting is depicted from a scene in Bhagavad Gita, scripture dealing with moksha i.e, freedom from the wheel of rebirth. This takes place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, upon which two sides of a family - the Pandavas and the Kauravas - are preparing for battle. Here lord Krishna teaches Arjuna about moksha, true spirituality, manifesting divinity and overcoming suffering. ‘We are spiritual beings having a human experience’ says lord Krishna.

Shiva is another name for the Absolute Reality or the Absolute Consciousness that makes up our cosmos. Shiva is the transcendent aspect of cosmic consciousness, or the Source of everything and all that is.

I sketched ‘Mahadeva’ during Shravan 2023, fifth month of the Hindu calendar which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This auspicious month brings blessings, prosperity, and spiritual growth to devotees who participate in spiritual practices. Its the time for self-reflection, introspection and embarking on a divine journey.

Ardhnareshwar, also known as Ardhanarishvara, is a Hindu deity that symbolizes the concept of duality and the harmonious balance between masculine and feminine energies. Ardhnareshwar is depicted as a composite form of the Lord Shiva and his consort, the Goddess Parvati. The left half of Ardhnareshwar's body represents Lord Shiva, who symbolizes masculine energy, while the right half represents Parvati, who symbolizes feminine energy. Ardhnareshwar is therefore considered to be the embodiment of both masculine and feminine energies which every human being possesses regardless of gender.

'Chasing a Mirage' ~ Conceptual Acrylic Painting depicts profound exploration of the human mind condition and the elusive nature of happiness. 

Just as a mirage appears to offer a source of water in the middle of a desert, the mind can create illusions of happiness and fulfillment that ultimately prove to be nothing more than a fleeting illusion.

The more we chase after these illusions or maya, the further away we drift from true happiness and contentment. The wisdom in this artwork is a poignant reminder that true happiness is not something we can acquire, but rather something that exists within each of us.

Kalpavriksha represents the material world and the fulfillment of earthly desires, reminding us that although these desires are transient, they are also a part of our spiritual journey. Kamdhenu symbolizes the spiritual nourishment and abundance that one can attain through devotion and inner transformation. Together, they represent the union of the material and the spiritual, reminding us that true abundance comes from a balance of both.
